A stunning design combined with state of the art technology. The Dancefair App is a best practice event app and fully deserves to be our app of the month.
The Dancefair, which took place in February in the Netherlands, is a two day event for everyone that wants to grow as a performing professional in the electronic dance music (EDM) industry. The event is fueled with more than 200 seminars and workshops across 18 areas and a 1800 m2 expo floor.
How to choose one out of the 200 seminars? The Dancefair app was the visitor’s electronic guide during the event. It offered all the information, such as the program, the floorplan and an overview of all the artists and brands on the floor.
The first thing which strikes you when opening the Dancefair app is its stunning design. The app uses a high contrast predominantly black color scheme with white and red as alternating colors. The homescreen only features a faded background image so all the attention goes to the navigation.
The icon based navigation has beautifully designed icons which completely are in style with the music industry and with the Dancefair logo. When pushed, the red dots on the icons even turn white. This can all be done with AppMachine’s standard design features.
Several items in the Dancefair app use high quality professional photography and video. Of course all the famous artists (Laidback Luke, Alpharock, DJ Jean) have sent in their best promo pics. The News section of the app also contains a lot of good photography which gives the app a professional look and feel. Users of the app can also watch professionally recorded video, such as interviews with artists.
The Dancefair app uses all the benefits of an event app. Last minute changes are easily updated in the app and communication with visitors and attendees continues during the event with push messages. “We experimented with push notifications and only used them scarcely during the event,” Norman says. “The technique is promising and next year we will embed push notification in our communication strategy.”
The apps impressive News section, made with a JSON feed, keeps all app users up to date and let’s you even relive the event, anywhere you are.
